How Does Hospice Work?
1.
A Need Arises
Circumstances that call for hospice include times when a patient’s medical conditions are not treatable, when they choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life, when a physician certifies they are expected to live six months or less, and/or when a decision is made that comfort care and symptom management is the path vs. seeking a cure.

Help Is There Within 24 Hours
Within 24 hours of receiving the call, a CorsoCare health care professional will be there by your side. We immediately begin the process of working with a multidisciplinary team of experts and the patients and their family to outline a care plan built around the patient’s specific needs.
Medicare Covers Hospice
The hospice benefit covers care for terminal illness and related conditions. Yet only 1/2 of Medicare recipients utilize the hospice services available to them. It’s important to talk to your doctor early and often to ensure that when the time comes your loved one can be surrounded by loved ones and experts catering to their every need.
Medications And Supplies Covered, Too
Medicare will also cover all medication, medical equipment, and medical supplies related to your terminal illness. The hospice benefit will provide you with the necessary tools to ensure you a peaceful end to a beautiful life.

With hospice, it’s your decision. Did you know:
80%
of people wish to die in their homes and only 31% actually do.
#1
response from patients and families: they wished they had started hospice earlier.
100%
of costs are covered by Medicare.
The Medicare benefit lasts for months: not days. Two 90-day benefit periods. Then an unlimited number of 60-day periods.
Starting hospice isn’t a final decision. You have the option to end hospice and restart curative care at any time.
Research has shown that hospice can increase both the quality of life and how long a patient may live, up to 29 days longer.
When Is The Best Time For Hospice Care?
As early as possible. Most patients, and their families, who receive hospice care say they wish they had known about it earlier; that they really needed help much sooner than they received it. Research has shown that hospice can increase both the quality of life and how long a patient may live, up to 29 days longer.
